REGISTERING- Please read all the rules before you join Aelyn. We don't want you joining before you know whether or not you will like it here. Your username can be anything (The name you log onto the forum with). If you have any problems registering please e-mail Sway at samuraiookami@yahoo.com .
- You will have one account for everything.
- Your Account display name can be decorated to stand out or make it more unique, HOWEVER it must not be impossible to read or too crazy/out of hand.
- If you create an account and you make no posts within one month of creating it, it will be deleted.
- Your account may be deleted due to inactivity. If you have not logged in for ONE MONTH and have made no efforts in contacting staff, your account will be deleted and any characters you’ve created will be deleted. Any Ancestors Tears you had on your account will be deleted as well.
OOC RULES- Swearing is allowed, but keep it appropriate, remember this site is rated PG-13 and the Proboards ToS require all members to be at least 13 years of age. Don't drop a curse word in every sentence. It's not very mature and it doesn't make you seem cooler.
- Never insult other members on the chatbox or in posting. Remember, just because someone's character has a problem with your character, doesn't mean they have a problem with you. No fights are to be taken place on the main forum. Any disagreements should be taken care of through PM. If you have any personal issues with any other members, notify Sway. Respect all members, their opinions, and their creativity.
- Respect all staff members. We are here to give you advice and keep this site fun for everyone. We enforce the rules so we can all have a good, safe experience. If an admin/mod tells you to do something, do it and don't argue back or get snippy. You are free to offer any opinions you may have, but any insults or disregard to instructions will be taken seriously and may result in a warning or ban. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just think about how you should express it before typing it out there.
- Please refrain from using chatspeak anywhere other than the ChatBox or the OOC areas. And keep it to common, simple chatspeak, don’t compress an entire sentence into abbreviations. Any members caught using too much chat speak will be given a written warning. If that gets ignored and the problem persists, further action may be taken.
- If you are a member and you have not replied to a posted activity check, you will receive a warning. Upon two missed Activity Checks, your account will be deleted. When posting in an activity check, please use your OOC account. If you use an IC account, you will be given a written warning and your post will not count to your attendance and logging in.
- Signatures must be no larger than 500 pixels wide and 300 pixels high. This includes multiple images. Below is an example:
CHARACTERS- Aelyn Reborn is a literate/advanced fantasy wolf role-play. Wings, adaptations (Depending on the land), odd colors, and strange limbs are welcomed. Consulting that, please don't go overboard. No wolves with more than one set of wings, more than one head, or genetic experiments like - head of a crocodile, legs of a lemur and the body of a shark. The fantasy character that you submit must have the basic body structure of a canine. If you’re not sure about a character, PM Sway.
- You MUST have all information included on the basic character profile form, but you're more than welcome to add more after your character has been approved, such as History, Likes/Dislikes, etc.
- Other characters (foxes, birds, tigers, etc) are allowed with special permission from Sway. Please do not request an extra creature unless you have been here for some time and are extremely active and an excellent roleplayer. Even if you are allowed a different species, certain conditions may apply and you may be asked to pay for it.
- You are allowed however many characters you feel you can handle. If it gets to the point where we feel you are unable to keep up with your characters, you will be asked to either pick up the activity or have one or more of your characters deleted or given up.
- Your wolves are allowed to have extra appendages (wings, legs, tails, arms) but you may be asked to pay for it in the Apendages Shop.
- Characters may have accessories, such as rings, necklaces, or scarves, but this is only at creation. If your character has already been approved and you want jewelry or such for it, it must be paid for in the Accessories Shop. Also, if at creation your character seems to have “too much”, then you will be asked to pay for the excess items.
- Wolves are welcomed to have any markings imaginable at creation, but if your character has already been approved and you’d like to add an extra marking, it must be purchased in the Markings Shop.
- Pay attention to any bans that the site has. Occasionally a wolf color, size or any other custom trait may be banned for a good reason. Do not ask for any exceptions for the ban. You will not receive them.
- Please use spell check in your character bios! We like to be able to read them, thanks.
-If you are posting a biography that is a work in progress, please say so in the title. (NF or ND) Then when your character is ready for a staff member to look them over, remove the NF orND from the title.
-Any character biographies that have been a work in progress for more than three months will be deleted. (Character biographies that have been put 'on hold' by a staff member are safe.)
- Follow ALL aspects of the biography form. There is a default form that must be used upon submitting your character, but once your character has been approved you are free to put any fancy font or layouts as you see fit. All original basic information must be in the biography, however. You can add stuff to it, but not subtract.
- Biography forms, while there are no word limits, must meet minimum standards that an Advanced/Literate role-play forum requires. If a staff member feels your form does not meet minimum requirements, you will be asked to either step it up or leave the forum. Biographies that seem to have no real effort will be rejected fully and the member will be asked to leave the forum.
- You may only begin roleplaying AFTER your character has been approved by a staff member and it’s biography has been moved into the Approved Section.
- If you'd like your character to be Alpha/Alphess of a pack, you must PM Sway. Do this before your character claims the unclaimed land, challenges the current alpha, or becomes the current alpha's/alphess' mate. You will be given a form to fill out and PM back to Sway where your alpha application will either be approved or denied. You will be judged on your submission, activity, quality of posts, whether you've broken any rules in the past, and how long you've been a part of the forum.
- If your character becomes Alpha/Alphess, you are expected to post twice a week at the very minimum. If an alpha has not posted in a week, their position is free to be challenged. If that character is inactive for one month, the alpha position will be lost. Because alphas are vital positions in a pack, even if you notify us of an extended absence, it is possible that you will lose your leadership position.
- If an Alpha has a mate, both alphas are expected to post within the one week period. If one alpha fails to do so, that alpha chances losing his/her position as well as jeopardizes the other alpha's position. Alphas are meant to work together and in order to have a functioning pack, each alpha needs to post. This will help members to keep each other active.
- You are allowed to have multiple leadership positions, however if you want more than one, you MUST be an active Role-Player and you WILL have higher expectations (Such as more posts per week, etc)
- If you have an Alpha or Beta already in one pack, but your wolf falls in love with the Alpha or Beta in another pack, you can still be mates. You don't have to take the position to be a mate, unless the Alpha/Alphess of the land demands it.
ROLEPLAYING RULES
- There is no set minimum or maximum for in character posts. However, remember this is an advanced/literate forum and as such, you must give enough for the next person posting to work with. If you fail to do so consistently, you may be asked to leave the forum or step up your post quality.
- Even though you are allowed to choose a pack for your character at creation, this does not mean your character is already a member of this pack. Your first post after your character is approved should be your character’s ‘asking for acceptance’ thread. Depending on the leader of the pack, your character may either be accepted or denied, but you must roleplay to find out!
- You (as a roleplayer) are allowed to 'claim posts'. What does this mean? If you see a roleplay post that you just have to reply to with your character, you are allowed to post a message similar to::
'I CLAIM THIS NEXT POST!'
But if you claim a post, you must post within the following hour! If you do not post within an hour of your 'post claim', any other roleplayer is free to jump in before you.
If you start a post, but do not finish it and leave a message similar to::
Not Finished
This is considered a ‘post claim’ and you must finish your post within the next hour or anyone is free to jump in before you.
- When your character speaks, in addition to using quotations, please bold or color the speech. Make sure you use the same color every time for that character.
- Absolutely no powerplaying or godmoding. It is cheating and makes roleplaying unfair and not fun to the rest of us. If you are unsure if your post is powerplaying or godmoding, ask the roleplayer you are posting with or a staff member. The only exception to this rule is if you have expressed permission from the character you are godmodding or powerplaying.
- Posting orders (if there are three or more people in a thread) are either established by the member who created the thread or a staff member. Once a posting order is established it must be followed. If you feel the urge to post out of the posting order, PM the member who established the order in the first place. If a member hasn't posted in over a week and they're next in the posting order, you may skip them.
- You aren't required to have a posting order if there are three or more people in a thread, but refrain from leaving anyone behind. Respect the fact they want to join and stay in a thread and everyone else will respect your right too.
- Please do not double post. If you have more than one character in a particular roleplay, then you roleplay them in separate posts, but not consecutively. You may not have two successive posts.
- If you create a thread that is meant only for another member, please designate it by placing the roleplayers’ name in brackets or in parentheses. Like [name] or (name).
- Where the aging of a character is considered, your character ages as you wish them to. No one can tell you when your character is old and has to die. The age of your character is completely up to you.
- If your character leaves a role play, please inform others OOC.
Ex:: ((Lucid has left the area))
Ex:: ((Lucid has left the rp))
Ex:: OOC-Lucid has left the area/rp
- Roleplay posts that are declared ‘finished’ or have not had anyone post in them in two months will be moved to the Howls of the Past board. If you wish to continue a roleplay that has been moved into the Graveyard, PM a staff member and depending on how long the thread has been ‘dead’, it may be moved back.
- Do NOT post in the Roleplay area with just a post containing OOC stuff. You are free to include any OOC comments in your roleplay post, but do NOT reply to a thread with just OOC. If you are confused, or would like to chat, feel free to use the ChatBox, or the OOC section on the forum. If you have any questions about the thread, PM any member included in it. Staff are the only members who may post OOC posts in the Roleplay section – but this is only to enforce rules or correct members.
- Aelyn may be considered a Literate to Advanced role play but that doesn't mean we will slack in any way. We assume you all know how to use spell check and write in complete sentences. Spell check is a free option Proboards provides us so use it every time! Even for small OOC posts.
- Please, when making a post, write it in Third Person and not any others. It makes the Role-Play run smoother and makes it easier to read posts as its the most widely used form of RP.
- Your wolf can be in more than one RP at a time, but don't go overboard. This is called Liquid Time. Please try to limit RPs to three different ones at the most. If you do decide to be in more than one post at a time, keep the timelines in check and make sure you're not posting out of order when it comes to the timeline.
FIGHTING
- Fighting is one of the best parts of rping, but please don't make it your life's mission to fight with every member's character that ever lived.
- Please make sure to notify a staff member of any major fight.
- Major fights must be judged and reviewed by a staff member. Major fights can be fights with two or more characters that fight to win something. Major fights can be over mates or land.
- All fights that have a staff member watching over it will follow this. You will be allow FIVE attacks, and THREE defensive moves to use at any point during the fight, but once they are used, they are gone. It will make fights fair enough and to make them shorter and not let them go one forever.
- Small scraps are allowed in role plays and do not have to be judged by a staff member. Both characters walk away from scraps and neither of the characters wins or looses. If you are fighting over land or mates, it is considered a major fight.
- The victor of a fight is determined by the staff who moderates the fight unless the victor has been pre-determined by the members.
MATES
- If two characters decide to become life partners, a staff member must be notified. Please make sure you don't slack on this rule!
- If two characters decide to mate and have babies let a staff member know so the pups can be planned out.
- And remember, this site is rated PG-13. So keep the birth scenes appropriate please. Absolutely no mating scenes. Again, this site is rated PG-13 and we'd like to keep it that way.
PUNISHMENTS
- Your first offense will result in a warming from a staff member either in the board or through PMs. If you find you have a warning level, and are not sure why, go to your profile page and look at your Account Notes – it will be explained there.
- Your second offense gets you a 20% warning level, and your Aelyn Account will be fined according to your offense.
- The third results in your account being temporarily disabled. You are able to log in, and read posts, but you are not able to participate anywhere on the forum.
- Any other offenses after that and your account will be deleted. Depending on the previous offenses your IP address may be banned so you will never be able to rejoin the site.
- Sway reserves the right to delete your account at the first offense if she finds it severe enough.
